Staff Development Day - August 25, 2005 Half day of Wellness presented to SouthFayetteSchool District

A healthy luncheon was served to all employees.
Personal Wellness Profiles Personal Wellness Profiles were completed by 133 employees (compared to 185 employees in 2004).These profiles are reviewed by the Wellness Committee to determine what type of programming to offer during the school year.
Health Screenings November 4, 2005 Health screenings offered to all employees; blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose
57 employees participated (76 participated in 2004)

Highmark “Maintain, Don’t Gain” program Program offered for 8 weeks from the week of Thanksgiving through the first week in January.This is a self-directed program designed to help individuals maintain their weight during the holiday season to avoid the cumulative effects of gradual weight gain.Seventy-five employees participated in the program.
One personal day was offered by Dr. Hippert as an incentive to participate – won by Mrs. Karen Maurer
Yoga Yoga was offered at 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM for four weeks in November and December.
35 employees signed-up to participate in the no charge program taught by Katie Logan.There were plans to offer yoga in the spring but the instructor was unable to teach at that time.
“Discover Relaxation Within” offered but was not held The Highmark “Discover Relaxation Within” program was offered in the winter but not enough employees signed-up for the program to offer it.This was a six week (one hour a week) class that would meet after school hours.This is a lifestyle improvement program designed to identify and reduce individual stressors through learned relaxation techniques.
Wellness Committee Meetings Committee meetings were held on November 9, 2005 and January 18, 2006 Jim Bohn attended a workshop on November 7, 2005 conducted by the PA of Health entitled “School Wellness: A Coordinated Approach”
Golf Shirts White golf shirts with a South Fayette Wellness Logo were sold through out the year.
Highmark “Challenge for Healthier Schools” The Highmark “Challenge for Healthier Schools” was applied for and notification of acceptance will be made in May 2006.The application was for ten South Fayette School District professional staff to attend a two-day in-service at TitusvilleSchool District to learn how to implement the PE4Life physical education program K-12.
Zoomerang Survey All employees were asked to complete a Zomerang survey the end of the 2004-2005 school district. They will be asked to complete another survey the end of the 2005-2006 school year. The results of the survey are reviewed by the Wellness Committee and the information is used with the results of the Personal Wellness Profile data to determine the programming the Wellness Committee offers from year-to-year.
